Art is produced by humans. AI does not produce art - it produces writing and images. I wonder if a reasonable analogy is the decline of ever more realistic looking painting and drawing after the popularization of photography. All of a sudden, it was "easy" to produce a realistic image with a camera, so just being able to do so with a brush became less interesting as art, and the art world moved on. The same might happen with AI - artists will start using it as a tool and who knows where that will lead. Keep in mind that widespread generative AI is only a couple of years old, and it might take a decade for truly novel art using the medium takes hold.
