I so can’t wait to read this, but I do have a question. I have often wondered Is there a difference between living an intellectual life and a philosophical life. I consider a philosopher to be one kind of intellectual. Do you make a distinction between an intellectual life and a philosophical one? Will you be touching on different kinds of intellectual life?
Congratulations ~ looking forward to reading it!! I love Sertillanges’ book and coincidentally watched a YouTube video today of someone else talking about it. Synchronicity means I have to go read it again ~ them’s the rules 😊
I think that is a pretty base to start with, but as David said, feel free to go for longer. I am confident you will not write word fillers but rather meaningful content.
Congratulations, Jared! I've been following your content since the early days of the YouTube channel and it's great to see you reach this milestone.
Also, as a fellow Humanities PhD trying to carve out a career path outside of academia, I've found your journey deeply inspiring.
Speaking selfishly I hope for a chapter or more on how to focus.
That would be helpful for me, too.
I recently read Stolen Focus by Johann Hari and while not a how to guide, an interesting exploration on the topic
Congratulations! I downloaded Sertillanges’ book after you recommended it in a video, now I can’t wait to read yours!

That could be a very good question for me to address in the book!

Congratulations! No small feat. I’m especially interested in how you’ve applied classical approaches to philosophy to modern dilemmas such as AI.
How long are you expecting the book to be? I don’t have any idea what page limit/word count expectations are like for books like this nowadays.
I have 12 chapters planned. 60,000 words is the target, but I've been told I can go longer if the book needs it.
Non-fiction has been trending down in length over the past few years, but my editor wants to let me develop the ideas as necessary.
Bring back longer books!

Yes, we need slow reading, longer books
How much background knowledge on philosophy will one need to access and enjoy the book? Will it be an academic book! Or written for the lay person?
It is written for a lay audience. I went with a trade publisher rather than an academic press for that reason.
Congratulations Jared! This is truly wonderful news.
I was wondering if there have been any discussions about translating for publishing in other countries. Would love to see it published in Brazil.
The publisher bought world rights, which means that translations are a possibility. I am hoping for many translations, of course!
I hope you can have a chapter or exploration on why imaginative minds and deep fictional reading is much needed
Bravo! Proud to find you
your positivity shines!
Congratulations. I look forward to reading.
so excited to pre order this!
Excited and will be anticipating reading your book Jared!
YAY!!! I am so glad you're doing this! I will be following you and buying your book as soon as possible. Thank you!
Congratulations. That’s a tremendous accomplishment. Any chance your book will make the read along list for 2026?
Once I it’s out, I’ll likely do something like that. Details to come!
