I'm really glad that the read-along will continue to be free, as I'm from Brazil and to pay in dollar is very expansive to me. I hope one day I will be able to support you.

Hey Jared, I am happy to hear you are hitting a new stride with this newsletter and are balancing this writing with the writing of your book. I am very much looking forward to news about that!

I am curious about you you looking to hire a copyeditor. Will this be a job your post or are you working with one you already know? I am asking because I work in publishing and am looking to gain experience on the editorial side outside of my academic editorial editing work.

Please keep your love for writing alive because I know we all love to read what you write.

You helped me to get back to reading philosophy and I’m very thankful. I hope you have as much success and fun in your future endeavors as I’ve had reading your work. Can’t wait to read it.

Good luck

These updates sound great! Really looking forward to The Plod and to seeing how you tackle a few dense, tough works as I have a couple of my own in mind for next year.

While not a professional editor in any way, I have some skills in the area. If you want any help in that regard, feel free to reach out. I’m the person who always finds mistakes in books. I’m the person who people I know reach out to for edits on personal and professional projects. I think I did half a dozen passes over my wife’s thesis and my own academic background was quite rigorous in terms of writing. Happy to help if you want.

I saw your commonplace books video on YouTube a while ago and just found you now on Substack. How convenient!

Welcome move Jared! It's sad since like you all of us had gotten fond of the name walking away, but I'm sure we'll grow to love Commonplace Philosophy and The Plod too!

Great things to come! No worries on slowing down, especially if it allows you to sustain writing here too.

Sadly, I think you're correct in your decision to re-brand. The first time I saw the name "walking away" I thought it was a political Substack.

These days branding needs to be unambiguous. I chose "Ataraxia or Bust!" as the name of my Substack because according to Google those words had never appeared together before.

Yes, I didn’t even consider that connotation when I picked the name.

Solid and smart rebranding and will happily Plod along with you when the time comes.

You do have to change things if they aren’t working for you. I like the new name. It makes sense regarding your content. Copy editing. I spent my journalistic career doing just that. I miss it, but I’m glad I was part of print journalism’s heyday.
